Lucas Piazon is one for the future, and he seems to be preparing well for what promises to be a bright future.
The 20-year-old has been on the books of Chelsea since 2011, but he is nowhere near the first team at the moment. In fact, since January 2013, the Brazilian youngster has been out on loan, first at Malaga and then at Dutch club Vitesse.
The attacking midfielder, who can also play as a forward and on the wings, scored 11 goals and provided eight assists in the Eredivisie in the 2013-14 season – a very good return for a player of his age and experience. He did suffer a dip in form in the second half of the campaign, but Piazon’s talent and calibre cannot be questioned.
In fact, Piazon has just had more success at the 2014 Toulon Tournament. He was part of the Brazil team that retained their title by defeating France 5-2 in the final. Piazon scored one goal in the tournament and is delighted with his achievement.
Piazon posted this photo on Instagram and the following message on social networking site Twitter.
Piazon is scheduled to return to Chelsea this summer, but it does not look very likely that he will be able to break into the first team in 2014-15. Blues manager Jose Mourinho does not really need an attack-minded midfielder so it appears that the Brazilian will be sent out on loan again to get more playing time and gain more experience.
However, Piazon is a very talented young player and he will be keen to make an impact at Chelsea at some point in the future.
