The same paper state Barcelona are already preparing to put any money from his sale to good use and have a shortlist of three potential replacements.
The trio are all players with recent links to Manchester United, and providing the Spanish side don't sell Fabregas to the Red Devils, they might just get one up once again on the side they have beaten twice in recent Champions League Finals.
Paul Pogba: £50 million
The Juventus midfielder is Europe's most in-demand talent, and one who Manchester United allowed to slip from their grasp. Juventus are keen not to sell but Pogba's agent has recently stated he is open to listening to big offers. With £30 million plus from Cesc Fabregas' sale, the stratospheric prices the Serie A champions would demand would suddenly seem less daunting, and quite achievable.
Ander Herrera: £30 million
Manchester United came agonisingly close to signing Ander Herrera from Athletic Bilbao last summer, attempting to buy him for his €36 million release clause. Bilbao is highly regarded, a member of the same Spanish under-21 side which starred Juan Mata, Thiago and Javi Martinez, and went onto enjoy a strong end to the season at the San Mames. Bilbao's qualification for the Champions League this season will however give Herrera extra reason to stay put.
Koke: £50 million
Attacking midfielder Koke emerged as one of the stars of the season in La Liga, and registered the same number of assists as Fabregas (13). He has a €60 million release clause in his contract so Barcelona know exactly how much doing a deal will take. Koke has recently stated he is very happy with Atletico however, and Barcelona face an uphill task to persuade him to abandon ship.
