Arsenal latest: Blow in Aurier chase, Fabregas’s surprise link & Frenchman voted third

All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from the Emirates…

Arsenal face competition from two unnamed English clubs for the signature of Serge Aurier according to the Daily Mail.

The Frenchman has been tipped to replace Bacary Sagna as the Gunners’ new right-back. But the latest report suggests Aurier is already in talks with two English clubs.

Who they are remains a mystery, but the report claims Arsenal have yet to make any contact with the player’s current club Toulouse.

If that is the case, Arsene Wenger could be caught on the hop. Then again, the fact that the two clubs are unnamed suggests it could just be more unsubstantiated transfer tittle-tattle.

Speaking of that, former Gunner Cesc Fabregas is reportedly closing in on a move to Chelsea according to reports in Spain.

The perennial rumour-mill darling has already been linked with a whole host of English clubs. But following claims Arsenal had ruled themselves out of the running, Mundo Deportivo reports that Chelsea are the previously “unnamed club” with whom the Barcelona man is said to have reached an agreement.

And finally, Arsenal’s official website has begun the countdown to its Player of the Season.

In third place is Laurent Koscielny, who shone in defence alongside Per Mertesacker. The Frenchman received 11.9 percent of the votes from those fans taking part.
