Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers continues to be linked to signing Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno.
The Reds have reportedly offered €20 million plus Suso for the Spanish international, and it is believed that an agreement between the two clubs may not be too far away.
It is a fantastic deal for Sevilla, as the club already have an adequate stand-in in Fernando Navarro who can occupy both the left-back and centre-back positions.
According to fresh claims in Spain, Sevilla have all-but accepted Alberto Moreno will be leaving as they quickly move on to find more cover for the departing star.
In a report published by Malaga-based paper Malaga Hoy, Portuguese left-back Vitorino Antunes has been identified as Sevilla boss Unai Emery’s ideal player to compete with Fernando Navarro for the soon-to-be vacant left-back spot.
The 27-year-old has a wealth of experience following spells in Portugal, Greece and Italy, and he only joined Malaga last summer for a reported €1.25 million fee.
His debut season on La Liga has been solid, and although he assures that he’s happy on Spain’s south coast, Vitorino Antunes’s salary is allegedly one of the lowest at the club and a move to Sevilla would certainly represent an interesting proposition.
As for Liverpool, Alberto Moreno’s looming arrival is a huge step in the right direction ahead of next season as the club bids to add a number of top quality signings this summer.
With supporters keen to see another title challenge as well as a solid season back in the Champions League, boss Brendan Rodgers will be aware of the strains of juggling the two and the key to succeeding is having quality squad depth.
