Arsenal star Lukas Podolski has been regularly updating his Instagram account with a number of photos this season, although none of them come close to rivalling the impact of his latest photo.
As he prepares to take part in the World Cup as part of the German national team, Podolski has been photographed apparently holding a bloody cow’s heart and sporting a mean look.
The message is loud and clear. ‘During the World Cup, I will give my heart to the cause.’
Germany have been drawn in a strong World Cup Group alongside Ghana, Portugal and the USA, although the three-time winners are expected to navigate their way successfully through to the next round.
28-year-old Podolski has already participated in two World Cups, and he is expected to feature in the Germany starting XI this summer following a strong campaign for Arsenal last season.
Despite succumbing to niggling injuries last term, the former Bayern Munich man managed 27 appearances for Arsenal throughout last season, scoring 12 goals and helping the team lift the FA Cup trophy.
Podolski told the Germany's Bild newspaper what it was like to hold a bloody cow’s heart, saying: 'I didn’t feel disgusted on the set. It is my promise to give my heart for the World Cup. We will break for Germany!'.
