Southampton striker Rickie Lambert has been speaking about his medical ahead of a proposed £4million move to Liverpool.
In an interview with Sky Sports, the England international said, “The medical went well. There are a lot of emotions as you can imagine. I’ll speak about it properly very shortly.”
The 32-year-old is expected to complete his move to Anfield on Monday, after a whirlwind few days that saw his proposed transfer seemingly come out of nowhere.
Liverpool were linked with a whole host of Saints stars including Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Nathaniel Clyne. But it appears Lambert will be the first player to follow Mauricio Pochettino out of the St Mary’s exit.
Lambert’s impending transfer is being hailed in some quarters as a master-stroke, with Brendan Rodgers adding an experienced and dangerous front-man to his devastating partnership of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge.
Lambert will know he will not play every single game. But he has shown in recent seasons at Southampton that he is a prolific goal-scorer. And with the number of competitions Liverpool are in next season, he will get plenty of chances to make a name for himself at his boyhood club.
Will Lambert prove to be a good signing for Liverpool?
