Spain coach Vicente del Bosque has announced his final 23-man squad for this summer’s World Cup.
The most notable ommisions are those of Manchester City pair Jesus Navas and Alvaro Negredo. While Juan Mata joins his Manchester United teammate David de Gea in the side despite suggestions the club-record signing would be axed.
Negredo enjoyed an outstanding start to his City career but tailed off in the second half of the season. Navas enjoyed a steady campaign and the pair will no doubt be bitterly disappointed to have missed out having enjoyed Premier League success in their first season at the Etihad.
United’s Mata, on the other hand, will be extremely happy to have made the cut having previously acknowledged the strength in depth at Del Bosque’s disposal.
Other notable inclusions are Chelsea's Fernando Torres and Cesar Azpilicueta and Arsenal's Santi Cazorla.
Spain are hoping to defend the title they won four years ago in South Africa, but they have a tough task to qualify from a group that contains Holland, Chile and Australia.
