Report: Chelsea will not offer Frank Lampard new contract

The Daily Star has stated that the veteran midfielder will be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge this summer.

A trophyless campaign for Chelsea is widely expect to herald summer spending by Jose Mourinho, with the Blues’ squad set to be shaken up during the off-season.

With David Luiz already confirmed to be leaving for Paris Saint-Germain and Ashley Cole leaving after his contract has expired, the future of Frank Lampard is very much up in the air.

The veteran midfielder is also out of contract and free to pursue other options should he wish, but he has previously stated that he would like a new deal in west London.

However, The Daily Star has today suggested that the Blues are ready to allow Lampard to leave the club for good and have decided to not offer him a new contract.

Newly promoted side QPR are said to be weighing up a move for the England international, while a move to the MLS is said to be an option also.

Lampard is in England’s World Cup squad but is expected to be behind Steven Gerrard and Jordan Henderson in Roy Hodgson’s preferences.
