Sky Sports News reporter Vinny O'Connnor has photographed Rickie Lambert ready to attend Spire Liverpool Hospital today, Saturday, ahead of a prospective £4m (plus add ons) move from Southampton to Liverpool.
The two clubs reached an agreement over the switch yesterday, prior to personal contractual negotiations that would see the former Anfield youth product sign off on a two-year deal pending the medical evaluation today.
The move was described by former Kop king Robbie Fowler as a "perfect fit" on BBC Sport, claiming that the price tag showed it was a "fantastic piece of business for a recognised English striker who is proven in the Premier League."
Fowler added: "He's probably a little bit different from what we've got already but he's a Liverpool lad and all his family are from Liverpool, so straight away you are going to get that extra 10% from him. He will give his all.
"I know he's not fitted in with Liverpool's ideas of the past where we want young, vibrant, fast players but sometimes you do need a bit of experience as Roy Hodgson has shown with his squad.
"For me he is an excellent player and he will add to what Liverpool have got already."
Lambert, who was on the England substitutes' bench for the international friendly at Wembley Stadium on Friday night, scored 13 and set-up ten from 31 Saints starts last season.
