Manchester United transfer news: €30m target ‘formalises’ new deal; £12m winger ‘edging closer’

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

Reported Manchester United target Enzo Perez has formalised a contract extension at current club Benfica according to Portuguese newspaper A Bola.

Perez had been linked with a summer move to Old Trafford, having shone since the departure of Nemanja Matic to Chelsea last season. But he was never going to come cheap, with a reported release-clause of €30million.

But the latest suggestion is that the formalisation of a deal that will keep him at Benfica until 2018 means United may have to look elsewhere for midfield additions.

In other news, Talk Sport reports that United are “edging closer” for a deal for Yevhen Konoplyanka.

The Ukraine winger was heavily linked with Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur earlier in the year. But the latest suggestion is that United could get the player.

A club source is quoted as saying, “If Man United offer favourable conditions and agree terms with Konoplyanka, then no one can do anything.”

So a couple of pretty big “ifs” then.

And finally, Javier Hernandez may have been linked with a summer exit but for now he has his attention fixed firmly on the World Cup.

In quotes published by the Manchester Evening News, the Mexican international said, “I couldn’t play and I couldn’t help my team (last season). But now my head is 100 percent with the national team.”
