Leeds United fans react on Twitter to McDermott departure

Brian McDermott left the club last night after talks with Massimo Cellino.

After weeks of speculation Brian McDermott has parted company with Leeds United by mutual consent. His position at the club has been in doubt ever since Massimo Cellino led a takeover of the club - indeed he was infamously sacked and re-hired in January.

But it seems the recent appointment of Benito Carbone upstairs was the straw that broke camel's back. Cellino clearly wants to designate coaching duties to the manager and the player recruitment elsewhere, the traditional way of doing things in his native Italy.

McDermott on the other hand is old school and despite the mutual respect the pair seem to portray in public, it was a marriage that would never work.

In an official statement Cellino was quick to thank 'great guy' McDermott for his services and that the manager will 'always be a friend of Leeds United.'

McDermott on the other hand was quick to thank the fans, with a powerful signing off message:

"Finally to the incredible force that is the Leeds United supporters, I offer my heartfelt thanks. Your support of me and the players was always an inspiration and I urge everyone to get behind the team and the new owner next season to get us back to where we need to be, fighting for trophies and competing at the top-table of English and European football."

But what do the Leeds fans think of it all?
