Del Bosque says Fernando Torres in Spain squad; Navas and Moreno out

The Spain boss has confirmed that the Chelsea man is likely to be on the plane to Brazil, while the other two are set to miss out.

Spain beat Bolivia 2-0 on Friday night in a warm-up fixture ahead of participation in Group B of this summer’s World Cup.

The reigning world champions have a star-studded squad, but the initial contingent needs to be trimmed ahead of the event in Brazil.

Fernando Torres scored in the win over the South American side, and Vicente del Bosque has revealed that he is set to back the much-maligned Chelsea forward.

However, Liverpool target Alberto Moreno, Manchester City’s Jesus Navas and Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Iturraspe look set to miss out.

“I have a lot of confidence in Torres, that is why he is here - I am very happy with his work,” Del Bosque told reporters, published in Eurosport.

“Navas has recovered well over the last few days, but he has gone six weeks without playing, so we have told him it's difficult for him to come.

“I have told Iturraspe and Alberto Moreno that, for now, they will not travel with us unless something else happens.”

Atletico Madrid pair Diego Costa and Juanfran are carrying injuries and Del Bosque has revealed that the dup will undergo late fitness tests.

“We still have Juanfran and Diego Costa who have small problems. On Saturday at 1pm we will make our decision,” the 63-year-old continued.

“With Diego Costa it is still up in the air. We will wait for the response from our medical team.”

Spain take on Netherlands, Chile and Australia this summer in Brazil.

La Roja have won the last two European Championships and the previous World Cup in South Africa in 2010.
