Alberto Moreno set to miss the World Cup; Liverpool should move quick

Vicente del Bosque has confessed that Alberto Moreno will more than likely not be included in Spain’s final World Cup squad.

With a move for Southampton striker Rickie Lambert set to be completed in the very near future, it appears that Liverpool are determined to do as much of their summer recruitment as early as possible.

The press have widely reported that the Anfield outfit have made a significant offer for Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno this week, as Brendan Rodgers looks to solve a problem area.

Although the talented full-back has been named in Spain’s preliminary World Cup squad, Vicente del Bosque admitted last night that he has told the Sevilla man that he will not be going to Brazil if there are no injuries.

This news, although devastating for the player, will be good news in Liverpool’s hopes of tying up a deal for him.

The La Liga club may well have just won the Europa League, but they have a reputation for parting company with their best players for the right price.

With Moreno more than likely not heading to the World Cup, Liverpool have a green light to push through a deal for the defender in the near future.

With plenty of other clubs interested in Moreno, the Reds would be advised to move quickly.

With a return to the Champions League and heightened expectations, Rodgers will be keen to bring any new recruits to the club early to get their feet under the table and help them adjust to their new environment.
