Atletico Madrid have become the plundering ground for European football's big clubs - as the likes of Diego Costa, Miranda, Filipe Luis and Juanfran are all being targeted. The same can also be said for their impressive and influential midfield playmaker Koke.
The Spanish international has been a revelation this season and that has seen Premier League teams take notice. Yesterday it was reported Manchester United, who scouted him on several occasions last term, had readied a bid for his services. It was also reported, in the wake of the Champions League final, that Chelsea were looking at bringing him in to strengthen their midfield.
Koke has remained effusive over his future. He maintains that Madrid is his 'home' and that he wants to continue on his journey with Los Colchoneros.
But that will not stop him being linked with other clubs, and Spanish rivals Barcelona are certainly looking to improve their squad after a trophyless campaign.
They have been linked with the player this month and considering Koke has a release clause of £48 million you can understand why so many teams are vulturing around him.
Now Barcelona's president Josep Maria Bartomeu has spoken about Koke among many other details in a Spanish radio interview.
"He is a spectacular player, that everyone would want to have, who has had a great season, but we are sure he wants to continue doing a good season Atletico."
So while Barca are clearly also fans of the talented midfielder, they remain realistic over the signature of the star - even if they did meet his whopping release clause. He only signed a new contract at the Vicente Calderon in January and seems very happy where he is. If Barca have given up hope of signing him, what hope for Chelsea or United?
