On this day: Suarez admits doubts, Arsenal release 10 and Fabregas decision in a week

On the 30th May 2013 what were the stories that dominated the football landscape? Including Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United.

I am casting my eye back to this exact day, the 30th May 2014, but a year earlier.

What were the main tales from that day? What big events were happening in Premier League football?

Here are some of the big scoops from the 30th May 2013…

Arsenal clearout

Arsenal embarked on something of a cull this time last year, as their big summer clearout saw its biggest single day of departures.

They released 10 young players from the club.

Conor Henderson, Jernade Meade, Sanchez Watt, James Shea, Reice Charles-Cook, Sead Hajrovic, Philip Roberts, Nigel Neita, Samir Bihmoutine and Josh Rees were all released from their contracts in something of a day of judgement for the club.

They went on to sell plenty more players that summer - with this year so far looking much the same with plenty of players set to leave North London.

No Cesc for a week

Cesc Fabregas' future at Barcelona was again in the spotlight a year ago today. It was reported that the former Arsenal captain would have his future discussed by the club a week down the line - as David Moyes made him his number one target for the summer.

However Fabregas stayed and in the present day it has been confirmed that Barcelona have no intention of selling him this summer either.

Suarez future

It was the biggest news of the day, as Luis Suarez admitted while away on international duty that he was not sure about his future at Liverpool.

Arsenal and Real Madrid were both keen on the player last summer, and he was miffed at the lack of Champions League football at Anfield last term.

And he stated to the media:

"I do not know when I'm going and I do not know if I'm staying. Obviously the club want me to stay, but I've talked to the coach (Brendan Rodgers) and he knows what I want...In England they talk about many things and in some ways I feel uncomfortable. If I stay it is because it is a great club but also in turn I know that it is difficult because of the harassment I get from the press. It is normal that it is impossible to say no to big teams for which one always dreams."

However he did stay, signing a new deal at the club during the season and Liverpool will hope he remains at the club this summer.
