Marko Arnautovic pours cold water on Liverpool and Spurs links

With Liverpool looking to add depth in their wide positions, the Austrian had been mentioned as a possible transfer target.

Austria's flamboyant attacking midfielder Marko Arnautovic has been discussing his future at Stoke City, with various reports linking him with a move away from the club in recent days.

Finishing the season with 5 goals and 12 assists from 35 games is an impressive return for a first season in the Premier League, and it appears that such form has not gone unnoticed.

Premier League rivals Liverpool, Tottenham and Newcastle have all been credited with an interest in the winger, while Italian giants AC Milan have also been keeping an eye on the player, who had a brief spell with Inter Milan when he was younger.

But the good news for Stoke fans is that Arnautovic is only focused on continuing his career at the Britannia, after finally finding a place to settle in one of Europe's top leagues.

The former Werder Bremen player shot down rumours of a move from the Potters, telling the Stoke Sentinel: “It’s just paper talk.

“The season was good and now it’s over. I do not need to think about my future at the moment because it continues at Stoke.

“The important thing for me at the moment is to focus on the next few days with Austria, give everything, and then I can take a break.”

Though Austria failed to qualify for this summer's World Cup, players such as 25-year-old Arnautovic, as well as Bayern Munich star David Alaba, are likely to ensure the central European nation become a stronger team over the next few years.
