Ex-West Ham midfielder Valon Behrami is close to signing for Inter but reports suggest that Tottenham could still swoop.
Inter have provisionally agreed to sign Swiss international Valon Behrami from Napoli, but there still seems to be time for Tottenham to hijack the deal.
During the last few days, Inter have closed in on Behrami and seem to be on the brink of completing a £5m transfer.
Napoli are happy to let Behrami leave because he doesn't feature in coach Rafa Benitez's immediate plans and the player appears willing to relocate to Inter.
If that is the case, De Laurentiis won't be able to wait much longer because Inter seem to be determined to tie up the deal.
Tottenham have been keeping an eye on Behrami for some time and they may still have time to disrupt Inter's attempts if new boss Mauricio Pochettino wants him and they act immediately.
Behrami has played in the Premier League before, wearing a West Ham shirt between 2008 and 2011.
The 29-year-old's versatility came in handy as he was often called upon to play as right-back rather than his favoured position further up the field, but injury problems hampered his spell at Upton Park.
It is still possible that Napoli may opt to intentionally delay any move further to give Behrami a chance to impress at the World Cup for Switzerland and increase his value, but doing so could lead to Inter pulling out.
