This summer will surely be tough on Arsenal forward Theo Walcott. The Gunner would have been looking forward to the World Cup this summer - surely as one of the names Roy Hodgson would announce as part of the 23 man squad for the tournament this summer.
His World Cup history is not great. Called up by Sven Goran Eriksson in 2006 but never played and dropped by Fabio Capello before South Africa four years ago. This time round it was a knee injury that ended his chances. He suffered the injury in a game against North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur back in January and was immediately ruled out of the World Cup in the summer.
With that in mind he was going to need something to occupy himself, and despite once claiming he would never get on the bandwagon - Walcott has now joined Twitter.
The former Southampton player is not keen on social media but he as announced on his official Facebook fan page that he has joined Twitter, opening with this Tweet.
I know I said I wasn't gonna join twitter .........I changed my mind!— Theo Walcott (@theowalcott) May 28, 2014
He has since gone on to gain a whopping 165 thousand followers, and counting, since announcing his decision yesterday.
And he has also gone on to thank everyone for the welcome messages he has received.
So many welcome messages guys. Thanks everyone.— Theo Walcott (@theowalcott) May 29, 2014
So keep an eye on his Twitter feed this summer, as he backs his England pals to do it without him in Brazil.
