Advantage Spurs? Saints confirms no Liverpool or United offers

Could Tottenham be about to steal ahead in the chase for the two England men?

For several weeks now, Southampton's two brightest England stars Luke Shaw and Adam Lallana have been linked with moves away from the club.

England fullback Shaw has long been rumoured to be on the cusp of a move to Manchester United, for anything upwards of £25 million, with Chelsea also supposedly interested, while Saints captain Lallana's name has been continuously linked to Liverpool.

But that all happened before Mauricio Pochettino, the man who oversaw both players become full England internationals, moved to Tottenham.

And Southampton Chief Ralph Krueger has subsequently come out and told Sky Sports that there are no offers on the table for either player, news that is sure to encourage other potential suitors, including former manager Pochettino.

"Under the circumstances we wanted to wait to clarify the manager's situation to move forward," said Krueger when asked about clubs chasing Southampton players. "There are no deals done."

Now, with confirmation that neither deal is any closer to being done, Pochettino and Spurs chairman Daniel Levy may fancy a last minute intervention to secure two of the gems of Roy Hodgson's national setup.
