A year ago to the day French midfielder Paul Pogba said this about his time at Manchester United:
"I never disrespected Sir Alex Ferguson, if anything it is the opposite, because I said things to his face. When I knew of Paul Scholes' return I understood that I would find it difficult to play and that I had to leave United."
In hindsight perhaps Fergie should have given Pogba the playing time he wanted after all. The player has since gone on to become a star in his own right at Juventus and is now a fully fledged member of the French national squad - there is no doubt he is one that got away.
This summer he will be an integral cog in the French team in Brazil for the World Cup. This week he participated in an international friendly for Les Bleus against Norway, certainly not an easy game although one they would have fully expected to win.
Win they did - 4-0!
They tore their Scandinavian opponents to ribbons for much of the game - with Pogba hitting the back of the net in the game and impressed in the opening 45 minutes - before coming off for a well deserved rest.
His performance also caught the eye of a popular football journalist on Twitter, who cannot believe United ever let him go.
Jan Age Fjortoft is most famous for 'calling' the Mesut Ozil to Arsenal deal, and his opinions are often sought after nowadays.
Being a Norwegian himself he watched his men being turned over by Pogba in the middle of the park and was in disbelief that he had once been a United player...
To sell Paul Pogba must be the worst sale since Russia sold Alaska #mufc— Jan Aage Fjortoft (@JanAageFjortoft) May 28, 2014
