Kyle Walker has taken to Twitter to mock Manchester City star Yaya Toure after the Ivorian complained about City forgetting his birthday.
Toure’s future at the Etihad has been cast into doubt because he is allegedly furious that he did not receive a cake for his birthday from the club when he was celebrating it last week.
And Walker certainly saw the funny side of the situation, taking to the social media site to show-off the cake that he was gifted by Spurs. The tweet is shown below.
The whole situation around Toure at the moment seems particularly petulant, but with the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona keen on signing him, there may be credence to the rumours he is set to depart Manchester.
Toure has been a mainstay in Manuel Pellegrini’s City side and was a pivotal player in their success this season, which saw them secure the Premier League title.
The powerful midfielder scored 20 goals in 35 Premier League appearances and earned many plaudits during the campaign – with some even saying he was more deserving of the PFA Player of the Season award than the actual winner, Luis Suarez.
If he was to leave City it would leave a massive void in the heart of City’s midfield for them to fill and leave their chances of retaining the title looking significantly less likely than they currently do.
Walker, meanwhile, hasn’t had too much to celebrate of late. He looked a dead-cert to make Roy Hodgson’s England World Cup squad before injury ruled him out of playing in Brazil, whilst his and Spurs’ season didn’t exactly go to plan.
The English full-back will be hoping that he will be able to continue his good mood for the foreseeable future, though, with Tottenham’s appointment of Mauricio Pochettino providing the club with a positive feel once again.
