Manchester United latest: Ancelotti claims & Turan rumours resurface

Carlo Ancelotti press conference

News, views and rumours relating to Manchester United in the past 24 hours.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has claimed Sir Alex Ferguson wanted Carlo Ancelotti to be United’s next manager.

"Manchester United wanted him last year," Perez told Spanish radio station COPE.

"He told me that Ferguson asked him to be his replacement. Possibly United wanted him this year, but I don't know. I can only assure you that they wanted him last year."

Reports have also suggested United approached Vincente del Bosque, the Spain national team boss, before they approached Louis van Gaal for the position as manager, and, according to these reports, the 63-year-old turned down the offer.

In transfer news, Cardiff City have signed United striker Federico Macheda on a three-year deal. The 22-year-old Italian will join United legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after failing to cement a place in the first team at Old Trafford.

United have ‘quashed’ rumours they are on the verge of signing Miranda. The Atletico Madrid defender who has a £24 million buyout clause has been linked with the Red Devils but the club have reportedly said there is no truth to the rumours.

Meanwhile, his Atletico Madrid colleague Ada Turan is rumoured to be on his way to Old Trafford after his agent suggested he had received an offer from a Premier League club.

"Arda is currently playing at a big club with big ambitions. He wants to be part of that success, but we must wait and see what happens,” stated Ahmet Bulut.

"An offer from an English club has arrived.”

United are also ‘interested’ in Adrien Rabiot, according to the Daily Mail who reports that the 19-year-old Paris Saint-Germain midfielder is keen to leave the French capital as Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City vie for his signature.
