The Daily Star has suggested that Brendan Rodgers is keen to sign six new players in the transfer window this summer, as he prepares Liverpool for an assault on the Champions League next season.
Pepe Reina could find himself confined to the Liverpool subs bench next season. The Spaniard has cast doubt over potential moves to Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, two of the sides reportedly interested in signing him.
“With Barcelona there is nothing, they have just acquired [German goalkeeper] Marc-Andre Ter Stegen - I haven't had any contact either with Atletico Madrid, I think they will do all they can to keep [Thibaut] Courtois,” he told Cadena Sar.
Liverpool have been dealt a transfer blow in the form of Barcelona star Alexis Sanchez. The Chilean winger is not for sale from the Nou Camp club according to Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo. Liverpool have been linked with making a bid for the wide man this summer.
Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson has revealed he’s more than happy to help younger members of England’s World Cup squad, as the side prepare for the tournament in Brazil.
“I always try and help the younger players, whether in training or in a game,” he told the FA’s website.
Henderson also believes that he’s proven his critics wrong through turning himself into one of Liverpool and England’s most important players.
“In football you are going to have times where you have got to be strong, and you have got to keep believing in your own ability. That is just part and parcel of the game,” he’s quoted by the Mirror.
Luis Suarez has warned his England teammates that he’ll be ready for the World Cup. There have been serious doubts cast over the Uruguayan’s fitness following knee surgery but he insists he’ll be ready to face England next month. The Times claims the forward’s fitness is a key topic of conversation among the England players.
Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen has revealed that he expects Tottenham Hotspur to rival the club for midfielder Adam Lallana, after Mauricio Pochettino was named new Spurs head coach yesterday.
“I fear Pochetino leaving The Saints could kick start an exodus at St Mary's this summer. It's a shame but almost an inevitability,” Tweeted Owen.
