Arsenal have reportedly made Benfica forward Rodrigo their number one striker target. The former Bolton Wanderers loanee was part of the impressive Benfica side this season that reached the Europa League final. His rights are part owned by new Valencia owner Peter Lim, but that does not reportedly affect a potential move for the player.
He is valued at £24 million by the club.
It comes as it is reported Karim Benzema will reject Arsenal advances in order to return to France. The Real Madrid striker is said to be keen on a move to Paris Saint-Germain this summer as he loses interest in signing a new deal with Real Madrid.
Arsenal lacked maturity and cracked under pressure this season according to Olivier Giroud. The Frenchman was speaking about how the club led the table for much of the season, but failed in their pursuit of the Premier League title.
“We were on top for a good half of the season and then we cracked. I believe we lacked maturity and that we had a lot of injuries at an important time."
Carl Jenkinson believes he can replace Bacary Sagna at right-back for years to come. The Frenchman is expected to leave on a free transfer this summer with Manchester City keen - but the young Englishman believes he is ready to step into the void:
"I feel that I am ready for it [starting at right-back]. It is never going to be easy to nail down that spot but I believe in myself and I believe in my ability. I want that position to be mine for years to come."
Jens Lehmann has been speaking about Aaron Ramsey today. The Welshman was one of Arsenal's star performers this season but the former club keeper believes he will not become great until he addresses his injury issues:
"All of a sudden he knew how to score; he found the goal quite often. Unfortunately - and that's what he has to work a lot on - he got injured again. And when you want to become a world class player, the first thing is that you're always available."
