Top Chelsea midfield target set for world-class summer in Brazil

Paul Pogba is set to become a world-class star for France this summer, and now he is reportedly a top transfer target for Jose Mourinho's Chelsea.

Before the summer transfer window even opens. There has been a lot of talk regarding the future of Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba. On Tuesday night against Norway at the Stade de France, Pogba showed why Chelsea have put him top of their wanted list, why Manchester United want him back, and why PSG want to lure him to France.

He may only be 21 but the young man is quickly becoming one of France’s most important players and he could be a huge star for Les Bleus in Brazil this summer.

In just his 10th appearance for France, Pogba scored the opening goal as France beat Norway 4-0 on Tuesday night, and there were moments of class that made the 80,000 fans in Paris believe that the former Le Havre midfielder could be the talisman that leads France to relative glory at the World Cup.

There was a beautiful glancing header when the midfielder ghosted into the Norwegian defence unmarked and he placed Valbuena’s cross into the corner. The crowd gasped as he majestically spun past one of his markers with a Zidane-esque turn in the middle of the park.

Pogba has the ability to orchestrate the French play in Brazil, he showed at times he still needs to develop his decision making ability, but all the parts are there to see. He is a huge presence, often looking like a giant amongst men on the field.

It is very clear that either Manchester United or Paris Saint-Germain would benefit from the services of Pogba next season. It is unlikely he is going to return to Old Trafford without the benefit of Champions League football, and with PSG unable to splash out a huge amount of money on one player unless they sell.

This makes Chelsea the best equipped club to make a move for Pogba this summer. He works best in a three man central midfield, and along with Nemanja Matic and Oscar, the combination of the three has the potential to be spectacular.

Chelsea need to find a way to close the gap on Manchester City and Liverpool, and with the growing promise of Pogba set to ignite at the World Cup this summer, the timing could be perfect for him to become the next star of Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea side.
