The glaring stats which show Szczesny has re-discovered his confidence at Arsenal

Szczesny Training

Arsenal's Wojciech Szczesny's return to form can be showcased no more clearly than in terms of his confidence coming out of his goal.

Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny shared the Golden Glove award for most clean sheets this season with Petr Cech, showing he is back to his best.

The Pole had a poor season a year ago, dropped by Arsene Wenger after showing signs of 'mental fatigue', and has been discussing his return to form.

He told Arsenal.com: "I think crossing is the one area where I've really improved. I've seen the stats and there have been a lot [of crosses] where I've come out to either catch or punch away, so that was a positive. I tried to come and help defenders out at set-pieces and they seemed to appreciate it."

The statistics Szczesny refers to certainly back up his comments, and show glaringly just how his confidence dipped a year ago.

Szczesny's willingness to come off his line dropped sharply a year ago, claiming only 17 successful crosses. While he played 12 games less, the increase to 63 successful claims is a sharp one.

The Polish international will have a new rival next season with Lukasz Fabianski not renewing his contract, but his position appears far more secure than it did a year ago.
