NBA Trade Talk: Kevin Love to Sacramento?
A fresh report on in-demand NBA All-Star Kevin Love claims Sacramento are ready to re-mortgage their future on bringing him aboard.
Yahoo Sports write that the Kings are to offer Minnesota their eighth overall draft pick this year, and an unspecified combination of players, in order to do a deal for Love.
Yet here's the kicker. To persuade Love to jump ship from one non-play-off making franchise for another, they are offering him a one-year deal only.
This would allow Love to test the waters outside of Minnesota for a year, while still being able to enter free agency as originally planned in 2015.
It's this option which Sacramento hope will persuade Love to join them, rather than a more established team like the Warriors or Rockets.
With a player of Love's calibre on the market, almost the whole league is interested. Love is keen to move on from the Timberwolves to further his own career.
It carries a big risk though for the Kings. If they fail to make next year's play-offs, it's almost certain Love would not renew, and they will have gambled a high draft pick and further players away on effectively a one season shot at success.
Sacramento finished 13th in the Western Conference with a 28-54 record, below Love's 10th placed Minnesota who ended 40-42.
