Manchester United transfer news: Defender links resurface; £60,000-a-week man’s future unknown

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

The future of Manchester United midfielder Anderson remains unknown after he failed to prompt a permanent move to Fiorentina during his loan spell.

The Brazilian failed to score or assist during his spell in Italy and spent much of his time on the bench or on the treatment table.

The Telegraph reports that new United boss Louis van Gaal may now have to decide what to do with a player who has flattered to deceive for much of his time at Old Trafford.

The report claims Anderson’s former club FC Porto would consider bringing him back to Portugal, but that his £60,000-a-week wages would be a major stumbling block.

In other news, the Express reports that Liverpool are interested in former United target and current Bayern Munich centre-back Dante.

The Brazilian was heavily tipped for a switch to United during David Moyes’ tenure, only to swiftly sign a new contract at the Allianz Arena.

The latest report claims the Reds have joined both United and Chelsea in being interested in the player, whist failing to acknowledge that he has only just signed a contract that would keep him at Bayern until the summer of 2017.
