Manchester City latest: Aguero jokes at Messi’s expense; midfielder tipped for Gunners

All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from the Etihad…

Arsenal are reportedly set to hand Gareth Barry a considerable deal to sign him this summer after his contract with Manchester City expires.

The midfielder spent last season on loan at Everton and was tipped to make the permanent move to Goodison Park this summer. But the Daily Star claims Arsenal are in the box-seat for the former England international, and are willing to offer in the region of £50,000-a-week for his services.

In other news, City midfielder Yaya Toure continues to undo much of his good work from last season, this time by talking up the prospect of moving to Paris Saint-Germain.

The Ivory Coast midfielder has sparked doubts over his future, saying that he will reveal more after the World Cup. But he has since been quoted by France Football and later published by the Mirror as saying “it would be an honour to play one day for a club like that, if I can be of service.”

It seems the player really could be on his way out of the club this summer, or that at the very least he is testing the water regarding possible interest from elsewhere.

And finally, Sergio Aguero has interviewed himself in a promotional campaign for PUMA’s Tricks boot.

FourFourTwo reports that Aguero had a little fun at his countryman Lionel Messi’s expense, saying, “I don’t dream about being like Messi…because he dreams about being like me.”

The City striker also spoke about his hopes for this summer’s World Cup, revealing that even if he fails to score in the group-stage he will have the belief that he will find the net should Argentina make it into the knock-out rounds.

“You have to stay calm and believe that the goals will come,” he said.
