Chelsea star Eden Hazard has been linked with a summer exit, with Paris Saint-Germain tipped to take both the Belgian and his Blues teammate David Luiz to the French capital.
Hazard enjoyed an outstanding season at Stamford Bridge, but following some very public criticism from Jose Mourinho, it was suggested he could be on his way this summer.
Given his innate talent and ability to further improve, Chelsea fans surely took the stories with a big pinch of salt. And when Hazard later came out to say he would remain at the club next season that should have been the end of it.
And yet the rumours persisted, with Chelsea’s reported enquiry into the availability of PSG’s Ezequiel Lavezzi raising more than a few eyebrows as the Argentine occupies the same position on the pitch as Hazard.
But now the Belgium international has spoken out again in an interview with BFMTV.
When asked about the rumours Hazard said, “You start to know me; I’m not someone who is disturbed by it.
“Every year they say I’m everywhere. It’s part of the job. I focus on the World Cup, which is much more important than what is said in the papers.”
As with many footballers at this time of year, they only have eyes for one thing – Brazil 2014.
But it seems Hazard knows the rumour-mill game and is happy to ignore it. After all, his continued importance to Chelsea surely outweighs the transfer stories that show no sign of abating.
