The paper claims that Lloris could leave White Hart Lane this summer as Spurs failed to secure Champions League football last season, while Cech could be moved on with Thibaut Courtois returning to Stamford Bridge.
The biggest fault with this rumour is exactly why Cech, one of the Premier League’s best goalkeepers, would want to exchange Champions League football for Europa League football.
While Courtois is a definite talent, Cech holds the number one position at Chelsea and it makes no sense for him to leave for a lower standard of European football and an arguably smaller chance of a Premier League title.
Cech is only 32-years-old and will arguably enjoy the best years of his career over the next two or three seasons.
Reports in Spain have suggested that Courtois could stay on loan at Atletico Madrid for another season, which means any Cech departure would be the football equivalent of someone shooting themselves in the foot.
Lloris enjoys a gifted position at Tottenham as one of their most important and consistent players.
The rumour would hold a lot more weight if Lloris had already left the club, but there are few sides he could join this summer that will offer him the guarantee and assurance of his place that Tottenham present.
There’s also the London rivalry between the two clubs to consider and the fact that Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho would be reluctant to do a deal that could backfire on his club.
He’ll also be reluctant to do any deal until Courtois is back in the building and happy to play for Chelsea next season.
Rubbish Rating: Very difficult to see this deal ever happening. It depends on so many factors triggering a domino effect and seems to rely on Cech’s acceptance of a move to a side in a worse position than Chelsea.
