Manchester City star eyeing World Cup glory

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero is relishing the prospect of leading his country Argentina to World Cup success in Brazil.

Argentina international striker Sergio Aguero is getting excited ahead of the 2014 World Cup finals.

The Albiceleste will be one of the top favourites to win football’s biggest tournament, which will be held in Brazil starting next month.

Hosts Brazil will probably be most people’s favourites to win the competition, but fellow South American giants Argentina will be determined to lift their first World Cup since 1986.

Alejandro Sabella’s side have quality players all over the pitch and also have a certain Lionel Messi. With a number of stars including Angel di Maria, Gonzalo Higuain and Pablo Zabaleta having enjoyed a productive 2013-14 season, Argentina will head into the tournament brimming with confidence and enthusiasm.

Aguero is excited as well at the prospect of winning the World Cup in South America. The 25-year-old world-class forward suffered with injuries this past campaign, but he still proved to be crucial in Manchester City winning the Premier League. He scored 17 goals and provided six assists in the league; the former Atletico Madrid man also found the target six times and created two goals in six Champions League fixtures for the Citizens.

Having now fully recovered from his injuries, Aguero is looking forward to training with his Argentina teammates, and is relishing the prospect of realising his “dream” and winning the World Cup.
