Farage grew up in Downe, Kent, and still lives close to his mother in the same village.

He was a commodities banker who worked at the London Metal Exchange, Drexel Burnham Lambert, Credit Lyonnais Rouse, Refco and Natexis Metals.

Farage was a member of the Conservative Party until 1992, when he left after the signing of the Maastricht Treaty.

In 1993 Farage became a founding member UKIP, which had one main goal - to get Britain out of the EU.

Farage is a big fan of classic sitcoms like Dad's Army.

The UKIP leader has been married twice. His second (and current) wife Kirsten Mehr is German.
