Manchester United transfer news: Club want £32m powerhouse; winger ‘second choice’

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

Nani has long been linked with the Old Trafford exit, and now Forza Italian Football claims the Manchester United winger is second choice if Juventus fail to sign Alexis Sanchez this summer.

Earlier reports had suggested that the Portuguese international’s move was all-but-complete before Louis van Gaal allegedly put a halt on proceedings. But now it is being suggested that if the Italian side fail to get the Barcelona man they will push ahead with a deal for Nani.

In other news, the Sun on Sunday reports that van Gaal wants to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger for £32million.

The German powerhouse becomes the latest Bayern Munich player to be linked with United, following the likes of Arjen Robben, Thomas Muller and Toni Kroos.

And finally, the Sunday Express has picked up on reports from Spain that claim United play-maker Juan Mata could be heading for the exit this summer.

Considering he only signed in January – and shone in the final weeks of the season – this could possibly be the most bizarre transfer rumour we have heard so far this summer.

But it is out there, with van Gaal reportedly prepared to accept £40million for the Spaniard as he is said to favour one up front and one behind – with Wayne Rooney reportedly ear-marked for that role.
