Arsenal's Mesut Ozil: I want to score more goals

The Germany international has admitted that he does not get on the scoresheet often enough for club or country.

Arsenal record signing Mesut Ozil had an up-and-down debut season in England following his big-money move from Real Madrid last summer.

The Germany international is renowned for his ability to create assists and showed just why in campaign by setting up nine goals for the Gunners.

However a return of only five goals is something that can be improved on next term – and the mercurial playmaker has admitted as much.

Ahead of this summer’s World Cup, Ozil has stated that getting goals is an area of his game that he wants to improve.

“It’s true that I haven’t been a real danger, and I demand it of myself,” the attacking midfielder told Voetbal Primeur.

“I am working hard at it, and although I did not do well in some situations, I’m working on finding a solution.”

Ozil had a great start to life in North London before suffering injuries and a loss of form towards the end of the campaign.

He has been named in Germany’s World Cup squad and is expected to play a influential role in the starting XI.
