The outcome of Saturday's final will result in either Atletico Madrid securing an historic double or Real Madrid winning 'La Decima', in the first Champions League final between two teams from the same city.
Here are four players whose performances will play a big part in deciding who takes the trophy in Lisbon.
After scoring his 16th goal of the Champions League season in the 4-0 demolition against Bayern Munich, Ronaldo broke Lionel Messi's record and will be looking to extend it. Madrid's counter-attacking performance in the second leg saw the Portuguese play in an advanced position on the left. They are likely to line up with the trio of Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, and Bale. At his best, Ronaldo will create chances for himself and others and will cause problems for Atletico's defence.
2. Diego Costa
Madrid's defence was less convincing than their La Liga rivals over the course of the season, conceding five more than Barcelona and 12 more than Atletico. Costa's aerial presence and quick footwork offers Atletico excellent dynamics going forward. Winning the penalty against Chelsea in the semi-final, the duel between Costa and the unpredictable Pepe will be significant.
3. Gareth Bale
Bale's late winner in the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona provided Madrid with their first and only trophy of the season. The goal proved that he is a potential match winner in big games and his pace will have a big impact, especially if the game goes to extra time.
4. Thibaut Courtois
The Chelsea loanee made excellent saves against his parent club and will be expected to be called upon against the attack that scored five against a Bayern side that does not usually give away goals. Atletico have only conceded six goals in the entire campaign.
