Gerard Deulofeu has been speaking about returning to Barcelona after his loan spell at Everton.
The Spanish winger made no secret of his desire to return to the Nou Camp as soon as possible, and has now done that following a succesful stint on Merseyside.
The 20-year-old attacker has high hopes of making it at his parent-club, and with a contract that expires next summer, he will have to go some to impress new Barca boss Luis Enrique over the next 12 months.
But speaking to Spanish newspaper Sport, Deulofeu said, “I am very happy to return to my home. I reached my goal.”
His goal was always to show the Catalan side what he was made of; to impress enough in the Premier League to then be granted chances in La Liga. And if they were watching, they could not have failed to be impressed.
Deulofeu scored four goals and provided five assists for Everton, but it was his all-round play and confidence on the ball that impressed the most.
The young star terrified the opposition as he ran at them with confidence. And although it will be a challenge for him to become a first-team regular at Barcelona, he certainly has the ability to give it a good go.
Everton fans would no doubt have liked to see him remain longer. But in his brief spell he gave them enough moments of excitement to be remembered for some time to come.
