Aston Villa, Chelsea, Feyenoord and Real Betis stars all feature.
Tottenham still haven’t appointed a head coach following the sacking of Tim Sherwood but that hasn’t stopped them from being linked with some very good players in the transfer market.
Spurs are a very attractive club for any player to consider joining this summer, with a decent chance of making the top four next season as well as the prospect of Europa League football.
Here are five of the best players linked with signing for the club this past week.
Samuel Eto’o (Chelsea)
Eto’o will be a free agent when his contract expires with the Blues and Spurs have been linked as a club reportedly willing to swoop for him. If they pull it off then they’ll be getting an experienced striker who knows how to hit the back of the net and someone with a grudge against Jose Mourinho.
Christian Benteke (Aston Villa)
The Belgian has been linked with the club several times in the past. Aston Villa’s struggles last season have raised the idea that he could leave yet again, but Villa’s owner has cast doubt over any high profile deal, suggesting no one will leave Villa Park without his permission.
Jordy Clasie (Feyenoord)
Spurs are one of several clubs to have been linked with the Feyenoord star this past week. He’d certainly inject some zest into Tottenham’s midfield but they could get drawn into a bidding war against Arsenal and Manchester United, two teams with bigger pools of resources.
Ashley Cole (Chelsea)
Tottenham are thought to be one of the sides interested in making a move for Ashley Cole. He’s indicated that he won’t be staying at the Blues next season, which has prompted mass competition for his signature. Spurs could find it tough battling against sides that offer the Champions League in Liverpool and Real Madrid.
Alvaro Vadillo (Real Betis)
Vadillo has been suggested as a wide addition to Tottenham’s midfield. He’s rated at around the £8 million mark but a deal could be simple for the club to complete. Betis have just been relegated from La Liga which means Vadillo may jump at the chance to join another top flight European side.
