The top five players linked with signing for Chelsea this week: Toure, Fabregas and more

Manchester City, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Galatasaray stars all feature.

Jose Mourinho will not be happy with how Chelsea’s season went last year and reports suggest the Portuguese is considering some big money transfers this summer.

The Blues have the ability to pay for some big deals but the boss seems keen in investing in long term players in his second spell at the Bridge, although that hasn’t stopped big names being linked with Chelsea moves.

Here are some of the best players linked with Chelsea this past week.

Yaya Toure (Manchester City)

Everywhere City go next season, fans are going to be signing happy birthday to Yaya Toure, that’s if he doesn’t force a high profile move to Stamford Bridge. Chelsea are one of a clutch of clubs thought to be interested with Toure seemingly disillusioned with the Premier League champions for forgetting when he was born.

Diego Costa (Atletico Madrid)

This saga continues to roll on and on. The latest reports suggest that Chelsea are against Costa playing in the Champions League final this weekend because it represents a risk that he could make a hamstring injury worse, potentially forcing him out of the start of next season should they sign him.

Cesc Fabregas (Barcelona)

Fabregas’ name seems to be everywhere this week and a potential Chelsea swap deal has been mentioned with David Luiz heading in the opposite direction. Fabregas is thought to be the subject of Manchester United interest and Chelsea would also need to rely on Arsenal not wanting to re-sign him which seems unlikely.

Mario Mandzukic (Bayern Munich)

Mandzukic does have the hallmarks of a classic Mourinho signing; he’s got a great work ethic, is versatile across the top of an attack and drops off when his side are under pressure. However, the Blues may only go after him if they fail to do a deal for Costa.

Wesley Sneijder (Galatasaray)

The Dutchman is a player Mourinho has grown very fond of during his career. He played under the Portuguese when the pair were at Inter Milan and would be a top, experienced signing for the Blues. However, there would be a great deal of competition for his signature.
