Germany's World Cup preparations took a big blow this morning when it was confirmed that holding midfielder Lars Bender will miss the tournament with a thigh injury. The German side are considered one of the favourites for the upcoming competition, but they do have some injury issues and a very young side.
Not as young as the side they are set to play this weekend in order to get some competitive practice. The club is. They are set to take on the German Under-20 side in a friendly at their South Tyrol base.
The low key affair will give Jogi Low time to assess his options ahead of the World Cup, try out different players in the problem positions of up front and holding midfield, whilst also giving the reserve goalkeepers some game time.
It will hardly be a competitive match, but the young pretenders will certainly want to have an impact - including two Premier League players who confirmed they would be present this afternoon.
Thomas Eisfeld shared this Tweet and Instagram today, in which he and Stephen Sama of Liverpool are accompanied by Koray Gunter of Galatasaray on their way to 'meet up' with the German national team.

They will likely provide fodder for the first-team, but for some of these players the end goal is the national team, and this gives them an opportunity to show the big boys what they've got.
