Liverpool will help soothe the pain, says Caroline Wozniacki

Female tennis player Caroline Wozniacki says that her love for Liverpool will help her get over the break-up with Rory McIlroy.

Tennis star Caroline Wozniacki suffered heartbreak this week, as Rory McIlroy called off their wedding.

The pair had already sent out their wedding invitations, but the Northern Irish golfer then announced that he was not ready for marriage yet.

The couple were one of the most famous in the sporting circuit and much of the sympathy from the public went to 23-year-old Wozniacki, who is currently nursing a knee injury and could miss the French Open which starts on Sunday.

McIlroy is a famous Manchester United supporter while Wozniacki is a well-known Liverpool fan, and during their time together, they often engaged in football banter on social networking site Twitter.

Now, following their break-up, the former world number one believes that supporting Liverpool will prove to be helpful for her.

It is clear from the Dane’s post on Twitter that she is taking a dig at McIlroy for calling off the wedding and leaving her heartbroken.

It could take a while for Wozniacki to get over the bitter disappointment of the break-up, but hopefully the success that Liverpool have achieved in the 2013-14 campaign and their future prospects will soothe the pain.
