Liverpool will be in the market to improve their squad this summer, with Juan Iturbe a player that they have long been speculated as having an interest in.
The talented Argentine attacker, labeled ‘the next Messi’, has just had a wonderful campaign in Italy with Hellas Verona.
The South American was on loan from Porto, and the Estadio do Dragao club have confirmed that they have signed a permanent deal to sell Iturbe to the Italians.
The Serie A side have exercised the option to buy after his temporary spell in Italy, with the deal expected to cost in the region of €15 million.
Although on first sight this may look like bad news for Liverpool, if Brendan Rodgers’ men are still keen on Iturbe it could work in their favour.
Had the Argentine returned to Porto, he would have had the chance to play Champions League football if he could break into the first team.
The Portuguese side are notoriously hard to negotiate with, pushing a hard bargain to part with any of their players.
On the other hand, Verona are likely to be an easier side to negotiate with and could potentially be convinced to part with Iturbe for an immediate profit.
