The top five players linked with signing for Liverpool this week: Toure, Pedro and more

Pedro Rodriguez Spain

Manchester City, Barcelona, Southampton and Queens Park Rangers stars all feature.

Brendan Rodgers has a lot of work to do this summer because next season will be very different to the one which has just passed.

Liverpool’s rivals will be wiser to the tactics Rodgers uses and the Champions League will provide more matches and a different challenge for the Reds heading into the new campaign.

Here are some of the players Liverpool have been linked with this week.

Yaya Toure (Manchester City)

Toure’s agent said he’d be treated like a God at Liverpool, which raised the idea of whether the Reds could actually make a move for him. The two stumbling blocks would be the fee and his wages, as he’s currently on a bigger deal than Luis Suarez, Liverpool’s best paid player.

Pedro (Barcelona)

If Liverpool pulled off a deal for Pedro it would be a huge statement by Rodgers. He’s a player who could play down either side of the midfield for the club as well as up front. He’s reportedly been told he’s free to leave the Nou Camp this summer and has a good dose of experience for someone who is only 26-years-old.

Adam Lallana (Southampton)

The Saints are playing hardball over price, expecting a £25 million fee for Lallana which Liverpool are so far reluctant to pay. The Reds are thought to have offered around the £20 million mark for the England international, with Liverpool yet to increase that offer.

Dejan Lovren (Southampton)

Another Saints star linked with Liverpool this past week is Dejan Lovren. Rodgers revealed he was impressed by Lovren’s performance when the Saints got a result at Anfield last season. He’s a versatile defender and a potential replacement for Daniel Agger.

Loic Remy (Queens Park Rangers)

Liverpool are reportedly one of the teams to have held talks with the Frenchman in the recent past. His fee, around £12 million, makes him affordable to the club although there is strong interest from Arsenal, with Arsene Wenger having thought to have watched him closely over the last couple of months.
