Future Chelsea star voted 'best in the world' by poll in France

Thibaut Coutois

Thibaut Courtois' international reputation is extended, with the Chelsea loanee topping a website poll for world's best goalkeeper.

Chelsea loanee Thibaut Courtois' reputation is so gleaming, fans in Europe are even voting him the best goalkeeper in the world.

The Belgian will feature in the Champions League Final this weekend for Atletico Madrid against Real Madrid, giving him the grandest spotlight in club football with which to enhance his CV even further.

It's already sky-high, illustrated in a poll on French website Le10Sport, which asked fans this week who they viewed as the best goalkeeper in football.

And Courtois came in joint first place, equal with German shot stopper Manuel Neuer.

The full results are as follows:

Courtois (25%), Neuer (25%), Casillas (19%), Lloris (16%), Buffon (6%). All other goalkeepers included polled two per cent or less.

22-year-old Courtois is into his third season on loan at Atletico, although his future is as yet unclear. The upcoming World Cup will provide further platform for him to state his case to Jose Mourinho as to why he should be the number one at Chelsea next season, although he could yet hold talks with his manager before then.

In an interview with the BBC earlier this week he stated he did not believe it was healthy for him and Petr Cech to jostle for position next season, urging Mourinho to choose between them.

The Belgian is clearly the future, the question is whether he will become the present next season or Mourinho will find a way to delay him.
