All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from the Etihad…

It has been a relatively quiet day for Manchester City, but quotes from Manuel Pellegrini during an interview with City TV have made it into a number of media outlets this evening.

The City boss has been talking his intentions in the summer transfer market and his hopes for next season.

In quotes later published by the Daily Mail, the Chilean said, “It is very important to win the title, but these two titles will not be useful next year.”

In short, Pellegrini will not allow City to stand still and already appears to be focusing on the challenges ahead.

The City boss was also asked about the prospect of new arrivals this summer, to which he replied, “Maybe. We are going to see which is the best way to improve.”

City have already been linked with potential defensive reinforcements and could also bring in at least one new midfielder this summer – with FC Porto’s Fernando heavily linked.

In other news, those Yaya Toure quotes just will not go away, with a number of newspapers and websites writing their own stories about them.

One of the best comes from the Telegraph, which details just how far football is from “the real world” when it comes to certain values.

The article looks at how in other jobs moving for money is accepted rather than frowned upon, but in football the ways to request it are becoming ever more complex and headline-worthy.

Who knows what the future holds for Toure. But there may come a time when City decide enough is enough and point at both the pitch and the door and ask for a choice to be made.
