Tottenham latest: Pochettino urged not to rush, Italian club rules out move for Lloris

A selection of the latest stories involving Tottenham Hotspur this Wednesday evening.

Former Southampton chairman Nicolas Cortese has told the BBC that Mauricio Pochettino shouldn’t rush into making a decision to leave St Mary’s to become the new Tottenham boss.

Pochettino is the front runner to take over from Tim Sherwood, who was sacked as Head Coach last week.

Cortese said: “He is ambitious and rightly so. When you plan a career, it is important to make the right decision at the right time.

“Often we have maybe seen people take too quick a step which ultimately backfires. But he has to make his own decision. He is a young manager. He has plenty of time.”

Roma have ruled out any interest in signing Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

The Daily Express has picked up on a report from L’Equipe where Roma boss Rudi Garcia appears to be happy with the goalkeepers at his club.

He’s quoted, saying: "He is a fantastic keeper.

"But so is Morgan De Sanctis and we also have a young number two, Lukasz Skorupski, who is destined to have a great future.

"It is not a position where we are looking."

One player who is said to be a target of Tottenham is midfielder Valon Behrami of Napoli.

The former West Ham United player is set to be sold by the Serie A club according to TalkSport, and the player has said he will assess his options after the World Cup.
