Free-to-play FIFA World is now in global open beta

FIFA World Key Art Final Beta

EA Sports has opened up its new free FIFA game for everyone to try in an open beta, along with revealing some gameplay footage in a new trailer.

FIFA World is a new free-to-play PC title from EA Sports that promises to deliver ‘a fun and immersive football experience that is synonymous with the FIFA franchise.’ The game comes with over 16,000 players, across 600 clubs within 30 officially licensed leagues.

Alex Grimbley, Producer, said, “By bringing the FIFA franchise to the PC platform as a free-to-play game, we give millions of new fans their chance to experience the authentic FIFA experience, with award-winning gameplay and licensed leagues.” Grimbley continued by saying, “At the same time, existing FIFA fans now have a new way to enjoy the game they already love, with fresh daily content and the ability to play on almost any PC.”

The game has had four closed beta sessions, and an open beta where over 1.5 million players registered, which has helped with development, and the feedback from players “has been absolutely instrumental in shaping our features and services,” said Grimbley.

There’s plenty of features to get stuck into too, like ‘Seasons’, where you will compete to earn promotion through 10 divisions. ‘Accomplishments’ will ask you to complete tasks based on scenarios from real world football, which will reward you, should you complete them.

Have a look at the gameplay trailer below, where you’ll see plenty of Messi and hear a lot of dubstep.

If you’re interested in signing up to play the game, you can do so here. You will need EA’s Origin platform to play, and EA have said that FIFA World is ‘built to be enjoyed on average spec laptop computer or desktop computers.’
