Chelsea morning news: Real make the first move for Cole as Lampard edges towards new deal

A round up of news stories this morning about Chelsea.

Real Madrid have made the first move to sign Ashley Cole with the offer of a £10 million two-year deal.

Cole will not be playing at Chelsea again next season, which has sparked interest in him from several top sides.

Liverpool are among the sides reportedly interested yet to have made a move for the former England international.

Chelsea icon Frank Lampard is reportedly closing on an agreement which will see him stay at the club.

Lampard, along with John Terry and Cole, reached the end of last season without a new contract lined up but the Blues appear keen to hang onto him.

“Frank is feeling positive about the whole thing. He is not looking at any other option other than spending next season at Stamford Bridge,” said a source close to the player.

TalkSPORT has reported that Chelsea have set their sights on signing Stephan Lichtsteiner from Serie A champions Juventus.

The 30-year-old has just a single season left on his current contract and reports suggest a bid of around £6.5-7 million may be enough to get him.

He can play a number of right sided positions across Chelsea’s already solid backline.
