Much has been written about the the ambiguity that surrounds the future of gifted Barcelona playmaker Francesc Fabregas, a player seemingly deemed surplus to requirements as recently-appointed Camp Nou chief Luis Enrique will reportedly ring the changes and look to cash in on the former Arsenal star this summer, with Manchester United expected to reignite their interest from last year.
If any potential suitor is to be successful in a bid for the Spain international, though, then they would need to table at least £40m for the player's services.
Fabregas' former mentor at Arsenal, Arsene Wenger, will be entrusted with a £100m transfer fund this summer and there is speculation that the Frenchman could be tempted to re-sign his ex captain should the opportunity present itself.
That opportunity may well materialise in the coming months…
The photograph above has been widely circulated and depicts a number of Barcelona's more renowned players including Xavi, Gerard Pique, Andres Iniesta, Neymar and Lionel Messi, however, Fabregas' omission is notable. Whilst only a promotional image for Nike, it may well signify that the club are planning for life after Cesc.
Spanish journal Marca, meanwhile, have indicated that if the player has a preferred destination in that situation then he would always pick the same club - Arsenal, not United.
