Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo will be on the cover of Vogue Espana for the June 2014 issue.
Cristiano Ronaldo is going to feature in what is arguably the biggest game of his Real Madrid career this week.
The Champions League final against city-rivals Atletico Madrid in Lisbon is on Saturday, and the Portuguese forward will have to be at his best.
It must be quite daunting for many players to wait for the D-Day, but not so for the 2013 FIFA Ballon d’Or winner, who has been posing for the cover photo of Vogue Espana.
The picture shows the 29-year-old Portugal international and his supermodel girlfriend Irina Shayk, with the coverline 'Amor & Fútbol' (Love & Football) highlighting their two worlds. It is also the first time that the duo has modelled as a pair.
Renowned photographer Mario Testino undertook the shooting back in March for the June 2014 issue, but it is interesting to note that it has been made public just before the Champions League final.
It will be Madrid’s biggest game in 14 years. Last time the Spanish giants won Europe’s premier club competition was back in 2002, and Saturday will be the first occasion since then when they will have featured in the final.
Ronaldo is a doubt for the contest, as he is suffering with a hamstring injury. The former Manchester United winger was rested for Madrid’s final La Liga game of the season at the weekend, but coach Carlo Ancelotti himself has said that the star player will recover for the final.
